Parafield Airport
Served by two sets of parallel runways, Parafield
Airport has a substantial capacity for all circuit training. FTA is the
dominant user on Parafield and enjoys strong support from airport
management. Parafield Airport is located only 10 nautical miles from
Adelaide International Airport, allowing students ready access to IFR
operations in an international terminal area environment with only
moderate traffic density.
Airspace
Ready
access to unlimited uncontrolled airspace or immediate access to a
radar controlled primary control zone combine to once again give FTA a
significant training advantage. General flying training areas are
readily available and a multitude of regional airfields with a variety
of navigation aids are regularly utilized.
Weather
A
variety of moderate weather conditions usually accompanied by excellent
visibility provide a unique natural advantage for South Australia as a
flying training environment. Summer is usually dry and hot with average
daily temperatures around 35° C while in winter the temperature averages
around 15° C during the day with the coldest morning still above
freezing.
