FTA Orders up to 26 DA40 Aircraft
Friday, February 3, 2012
FTA is proud to announce the purchase of up to 26 Diamond DA40 CS aircraft. The first eight aircraft will be delivered in two batches of four aircraft in 2012 with the first batch arriving in June 2012 and the option for 18 additional aircraft scheduled for 2013 and 2014 delivery.
The Diamond DA40 CS single engine aircraft are powered by the Lycoming IO-360-M1AAvgas engine. This modern, composite four-seater aircraft is equipped with a GarminG1000 glass cockpit. The contract was awarded following a tough, head-to-head competition between the short-listed aircraft culminating in a fly-off conducted late last year.
Pine Pienaar, CEO of Flight Training Adelaide, commenting on the rationale behind the selection said: “The aim of Flight Training Adelaide is to provide our students with one of the world’s best training environments. The overall performance, lifetime running costs and training outcomes we require made the DA40 the standout choice. We believe acquiring these aircraft will help us to continue to achieve this aim and are confident our students and instructors will appreciate the performance, safety and design features they offer.” The new DA 40CS aircraft will complement Flight Training Adelaide’s existing fleet of 42 aircraft across 5 types, including their current 7 DA42 L360 aircraft.
