FTA accepted the first two new Diamond DA40 aircraft on 23 May 2012, which will be followed by up to 26 aircraft over the next three years. Slavko Bratkovic, a FTA Standards Instructor, travelled to London Ontario, Canada, to participate in the acceptance process. These aircraft are expected to arrive at FTA in July 2012, followed by another two aircraft in August 2012. This process will repeat itself over the next couple of years.
On acceptance of the two aircraft, Pine Pienaar, FTA’s CEO commented: 'This marks the start of evolving our single-engine fleet into a truly integrated part of our airline training model. FTA will be investing over $13 million in the college over the next 12 - 24 months, with the DA40 aircraft forming a significant part of this investment. We and our customers are very excited about these great training assets, which will assist us to continue as a benchmark FTO for airline pilot training in the world'.
