||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Two new Diamond DA42 simulators have been installed to support the 7 Diamond DA42 aircraft recently purchased by FTA and due for arrival in Australia shortly. The devices, manufactured by Diamond Simulation Technologies, are currently in the process of completing certification as CASA Level 5 Flight Training Devices. Picture attached.
These meticulously designed and manufactured simulators are fully authentic training systems replicating the “real thing in the greatest detail and feature: • Original cockpit in the most minute detail The systems come complete with a modern external visual system with a vertical field of view of 180° on cylindrical screens, as well as with electronic control loading systems for a realistic simulation of the control forces, and a modern instructor operating station for well mapped training. Diamond engineers and aviation experts including pilots and flight/simulator instructors are now working on improving the design and development of the DA42 sim software (D-SIM P2). The first engineering phase is now complete which are now in the test phase. The D-SIM P2 will be delivered to FTA in May 2007. This software should have a modern modular architecture and be capable of processing FTD Level 6+ certified aircraft data so as to meet future requirements of the training industry. The D-SIM P2 will also have a new instructor operating station (IOS) software which has been designed together with airline pilots and flight and simulator instructors. The integration of the new visual system will be in line with D-SIM P2. |
