Q. Do you only train for airlines or can self-funded cadets study with you also?
   
A. The FTA College trains cadets from various airline partners. Details of training for privately funded students can be found in the Private Training section of the website.
   
Q. Are any sponsorships available?
   
A. The majority of our Airline customers offer fully sponsored cadet programs to applicants from within their own country. Enquiries about cadet programs should be made directly with the Airlines, and more specifically be made to the Airlines in your region.
   
Q. What regulatory authorities can you provide training for?
   
A. Over the years the College has trained to the requirements of approximately 15 regulators.Currently, the College trains to the requirements of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD), Taiwan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), China’s Civil Aviation in China (CAAC) and Japan’s Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB).
   
Q. Is a student visa required to study in Australia?
   
A. Yes a student visa is required for any study undertaken in Australia that is expected to be longer than 3 months. An information pack detailing the application process can be obtained from your nearest Australian Embassy or by visiting the Australian Immigration Department.Although processing times can vary, we advise to apply for the visa at least 10-12 weeks before the planned departure date to ensure that the visa is granted before the commencement of a course.
   
Q. Is overseas student health cover required to study in Australia?
   
A. Yes. It is a condition of the student visa that students have Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their stay in Australia. FTA can arrange OSHC. The standard premium cover for twelve months is AUD312 (subject to change), however this fee can vary depending on the course length.
   
Q. What are the academic entry requirements?
   
A. Academic qualifications should, as a minimum, include English, Mathematics and Physics at a level, which would allow entry to a science, based university degree.
   
Q. English as a second language. What level of English is required?
   
A. Cadets should have advanced English skills. As a guide, an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) level of 5.5 is advisable for students who have English as a second language. For more information, please visit IELTS.
